Week 4: Blog post 1c: South America: Dominica: Dominica and Brazil Network for Improved Water Resources Management

The GIS news says that the DOWASCO's, The Dominica Water and Sewerage Company, workshops for water management were held in collaboration with Brazil on March 27th and 28th and focused on the management of water resources and providing clean water for all citizens.  These two workshops dealt with the theme that they are to aim at management of ground water as well as that of surface water to preserve them and reduce soil erosion or siltation of them. In addition, they also took into account the importance of finding sustainable solutions, access to clean and potable water at reasonable costs. They stated that this will be promising because it will be provided for not only all citizens including the poor but also the generations to come. To sum up, Dominica is struggling to administer the water resources and to ensure the current and future nations to easily use and consume sanitary water in cooperation with Brazil.

When I was in high school, I have watched some documentaries covering the problem of water shortage in many developing countries, and it impressed me to help them, such as to support them financially, to encourage people to participate in, and to save water consumption. The first reason of their poor access to clean and plentiful water was the lack of facilities to pump up the water or to purify dirty water, so I started to fund money for them. Moreover, I have encouraged people to be involved in the campaigns which are aimed at paying attention to people with poor water provision and helping them practically. Besides, another thing I think important was to economize water usage because even though it seems so trivial that can't be helpful directly, it's the most easy and fundamental step to preserve water resources and provide for poor people.  By doing these activities, I realized that it is important to be of help to people who are isolated from pure water that I took for granted, so I still actively engage in diverse activities to provide material aid, to draw people to join together, and control the use of water since then.
